Intramedullary anchorage nail
Abstract
A medulla locking nail for fracture treatment in long tubular bones consists of a hollow body (1) made of tissue-compatible metal and a non-metallic inner body (2a, 2b) that is also tissue-compatible, the material of which has a lower deformation resistance than that of the hollow body (1). The inner body (2a, 2b) lies in the hollow body (1) in a torsion-proof manner. Hollow body (1) and inner body (2a, 2b) have mutually complementary holes (12 to 15, 17, 18). So that cross-sectional reductions of the hollow body (1), which can occur when the hollow body (1) is driven into the medullary cavity of a bone, do not impede the insertion of the inner body (2a, 2b) too much, the inner body (2a, 2b) is made of consists of two partial bodies (2a, 2b), the longitudinal extent of which is as large as is necessary for holding screws inserted into their holes (14, 15, 18).
