Abstract

Abstract A wound dressing comprising a porous layer having a good affinity to tissues of organisms comprising (a) a first portion (3) to be on the wound surface (2) having pores with a diameter of 20 to 500µm and a thickness of 1 to 10 mm, and (b) a second portion (5) to be remote to the wound surface (2) having pores with a diameter of not more than 20µm and a thickness of 0.5 to 5µm. Preferably the wound dressing contains in the first portion (3) an antimicrobial agent in an amount of not more than 50% by weight, and in the second portion an antimicrobial agent in an amount of 10 to 80% by weight.
