Abstract
Abstract Apparatus for deriving output signals from input data frames that occur at a slower rate than the display frame rate at which the data is to be displayed, in which consecutive input frames of data are displayed in display frames that have a given number of intermediate display frames between them, and in which interpolated values of the input data frames are used for the intermediate display frames. Memory buffers (B₁, B₂, B₃) receive the input data frames in turn, and output signals for display are derived from the buffers not receiving input data.

Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 8
Claim 1
Independent Claim
71 words
Data handling apparatus for providing output display signals, which are to be displayed at a given frame rate, from input data signals received at a lower frame rate, wherein successive input data signals are stored sequentially in memory means (B₁, B₂, B₃) and wherein the output display signal representing instants between two successive input data signals already received corresponds to an interpolation provided by interpolation means (22) of said input signals.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
26 words
Data handling apparatus as claimed in Claim 1, wherein the output display signal representing each specific input data signal corresponds directly to that input data signal.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
31 words
Data handling apparatus as claimed in Claim 1 or 2 wherein the frequency of the output display signal is an integral multiple of the frequency of the input data signal receipt.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
28 words
Data handling apparatus as claimed in any preceding claim wherein the output display signals are supplied to a display memory (26) prior to application to display means (30).
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
59 words
Data handling apparatus as claimed in any preceding claim wherein said memory means comprises three memory buffers (B₁, B₂, B₃) which receive input data signals in strict sequence, and wherein data is read for the purpose of providing said interpolation under control of a selector (16) from those two buffers at any time not receiving an input data signal.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
42 words
Data handling as claimed in any preceding claim wherein each interpolation output display signal is a signal weighted between the two successive input signals according to the position in time of the respective instant between the times of the two input signals.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
67 words
Data handling apparatus as claimed in any preceding claim adapted for use in displaying ultrasonically derived images of both body tissue structure and blood flow, wherein said input data signals represent blood flow which is displayed as moving at said given frame rate, and wherein every nth input data signal represents body tissue structure which is displayed as static and is not subject to an interpolation process.
