Abstract

Abstract An ostomy drainage receptacle (10) comprising a flexible pouch having a stoma-receiving opening (32) therein. A mounting assembly (24) surrounds the opening, the mounting assembly comprising a stiffly flexible mounting ring (26) having a flat annular rim portion (28) sealed to the opening and a convex dome portion (30) having a central stoma-receiving opening (32) therethrough. The thickness of the convex dome portion gradually increases in radial directions from the rim to the stoma-receiving opening so that the dome portion may flex upon application of the receptacle to the body for a more secure seal. The receptacle has a relatively wide upper portion (34) to provide space for a relatively large stoma and the increased width also provides a large adhesive are for application of the body.

An ostomy drainage receptacle (10) comprising a flexible pouch defined by drainage chamber (16) defining walls (12,14), means defining an opening (22) in one (14) of said walls adjacent an upper portion (34) of said pouch, and a mounting assembly (24) surrounding said opening (22), said mounting assembly (24) comprising a stiffly flexible mounting ring (26) having a flat annular rim portion (28) sealed to said opening (22) and a convex dome portion (30) having a central stoma-receiving opening (32) therethrough, the thickness of said convex dome portion (30) gradually increasing in radial directions from said rim (28) to said stoma-receiving opening (32).
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 103 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 17 words
An ostomy drainage receptacle according to claim 1, wherein said thickness gradually increases in all radial directions.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 51 words
An ostomy drainage receptacle according to claim 1, wherein said mounting assembly (24) includes adhesive means (42) adhered to at least a portion of said convex dome (30) and having a body-engaging portion for securing said flexible pouch to the body and sealing the stoma-receiving opening (32) about a stoma (S).
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 33 words
An ostomy receptacle according to claim 1, wherein the upper portion (34) of the pouch is wider than the remainder of the pouch to provide additional room (36) for a protruding stoma (S).
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 23 words
An ostomy receptacle according to claim 4 wherein said upper portion (34) of said pouch is substantially covered with said adhesive means (42).
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 38 words
An ostomy receptacle according to claim 1, wherein a soft pliable sealing ring (44) is adhered to said convex dome portion (30) and wherein said ring is adapted to form a seal against the body around the stoma.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 17 words
An ostomy receptacle according to claim 1, wherein said pouch has a lower reclosable drainage opening (20).
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 171 words
An ostomy drainage receptacle (10) comprising a flexible pouch defined by drainage chamber (16) defining walls (12,14), means defining an opening (22) in one (14) of said walls adjacent an upper portion (34) of said pouch, said upper portion being wider than the remainder of the pouch to provide additional room (36) for a protruding stoma, a mounting assembly (24) surrounding said opening (22), said mounting assembly (24) comprising a stiffly flexible mounting ring (26) having a flat annular rim portion (28) and a convex dome portion (30) having a central stoma-receiving opening (32) therethrough, the thickness of said convex dome portion (30) gradually increasing in all radial directions from said rim (28) to said stoma-receiving opening (32), adhesive means (42) adhered to at least a portion of said convex dome (30) and having a body-engaging portion substantially covering said upper portion of said pouch, and a soft pliable sealing ring (44) adhered to said convex dome portion (30) adapted to form a seal against the body around the stoma (S).
Claim 10
