Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 6
Claim 1
Independent Claim
82 words
A method for producing endosseous implants comprising thermally spraying a ceramic material onto the surface of a metallic titanium core material, wherein the improvement comprises subjecting the metallic titanium core material (6) to a surface oxidation treatment by heating the core material at a temperature of 400 o to 800 o C in air then thermally spraying the ceramic material (7,8) onto the surface of the metallic titanium core material, wherein the ceramic material is aluminum oxide, hydroxyapatite or a mixture thereof.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
25 words
A method as claimed in claim 1, wherein the temperature for the surface oxidation treatment is in the range of 450 to 550 o C.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
21 words
A method as claimed in claim 1 or claim 2, wherein the thermal spraying is carried out by thermal plasma spraying.
Claim 4
Independent Claim
23 words
A method as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, wherein the surface oxidation treatment is conducted for 1 to 100 minutes.
Claim 5
Independent Claim
26 words
A method as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, wherein the thickness of the ceramic coating layer (7,8) is from 10 to 200 µm.
Claim 6
Independent Claim
37 words
A method as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, wherein a ground mixture of hydroxyapatite and aluminum oxide is thermally sprayed to form a coating layer (7,8) having an average thickness of about 150 µm.
