Image-producing process
Abstract
Process for image formation on substrates, in which one (i) immersing the substrate as an electrode in a liquid mixture which (A) a cationically polymerizable material (B) an electric current activating polymerization reagent for (A) and (c) contains a photosensitive material, (ii) conducts electrical current through the liquid mixture of substances between the substrate and another electrode, so that a photosensitive layer of the essentially solid polymerized material is deposited on the surface of the substrate, (iii) removing the substrate from the liquid mixture, (iv) exposing the photosensitive layer to actinic radiation in a predetermined pattern to achieve a difference in solubility between the exposed and unexposed portions of the layer, and (v) removing the more soluble parts of the layer by treatment with a solvent and leaving the less soluble parts of the layer on the substrate. (A) can be, for example, an epoxy resin, (B) potassium hexafluorophosphate and (C) a photocurable acrylate or a quinonediazide.
