Abstract

Abstract @ Adjustable rotation limiter device (11) for use with a steerable ballon type dilatation catheter (12) of the type having a flexible core wire (13) extending therethrough and an adapter (21) adapted to be secured to the proximal extremity of a dilatation catheter (12). The adapter (21) has at least a first arm (22) with a fitting (31) thereon. A sealing means (32) is disposed within the fitting (31). A thumb screw (33) having a first knob (34) carrying a threaded axially extending member (36) is threaded into the fitting (31) and is adapted to engage the sealing means (32) whereby when the core wire (13) extends through the fitting (31), the sealing member (32), and the thumb screw (33), rotation of the thumb screw (33) in one direction will cause sealing engagement between the sealing member (32) and the core wire (13). A torque knob (38) having a second knob (39) carrying an axially extending member (41) is threaded into the thumb screw (33). A rotation limiter (46) is carried by one (39) of the knobs (34,39) and has a portion (48) thereof extending over the other (34) of the knobs which serves to limit relative movement between the knobs (34,39).

Claim 3
Dependent Claim 48 words
A device as claimed in Claim 1, characterised in that said rotation limiting means includes a pair of diametrically disposed arms (83) carried by the second knob (81) and an annular member (84) underlying the first knob (77) and secured to the distal extremities of the arms (83).
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 46 words
A device as claimed in Claim I or Claim 2, characterised in that said means permitting relative rotation between the first and second knobs includes an externally threaded extension member (41 or 68 or 82) carried by the second knob and threaded into the first knob.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 183 words
An adjustable rotation limiter device (11) for use with a steerable balloon type dilatation catheter (12) of the type having a flexible core wire (13) extending therethrough, characterised by an adapter adapted to be secured to the proximal extremity of the dilatation catheter (12), the adapter having at least a first arm (22), a fitting (31) on the first arm (22), sealing means (32) disposed within the fitting (31), a thumb screw (33) having a first knob (34) carrying a threaded axially extending member (36) threaded into the fitting (31) and being adapted to engage the sealing means (32) to establish a sealing engagement between the sealing means (32) and the core wire (13), a torque knob (38) having a second knob (39) carrying an axially extending member (41) threaded into said thumb screw (33) and limit means (46) carried by one of said knobs (34 or 39) and having a portion thereof extending over the other of said first and second knobs (34,39) and serving to limit the rotational movement of the second knob (39) with respect to the first knob (34).
