Hip joint prosthesis with a femur anchoring shaft
Abstract
Hip joint endoprosthesis with a shaft (1) to be anchored in the femur and tapering from top to bottom, which consists of a main part (7) connected to the joint head (4) and a plurality of wedge pieces (10), which interact via guiding surfaces (11, 12) are guided movably in the longitudinal direction on the main part. The friction in the guide surfaces between the main part (7) and the wedge pieces (10) is less than the friction which is caused by the outer surface (13) of the wedge pieces (10), which is designed to promote adhesion, on the bone. When the medullary cavity accommodating the prosthesis socket is widened, the load on the main part (7) leads to a spreading of the wedge pieces (10) and thus to an adaptation of the shape of the prosthesis.
