Abstract

Abstract Process for preparing catalyst, by kneading and/or impregnation which comprises 3-60 pbw cobalt and 0.1-100 pbw of zirconium, titanium and/or chromium per 100 pbw silica and/or alumina and which has such L and S as to satisfy the relation wherein L = total quantity of cobalt present on catalyst (mg Co/m)), S = the surface area of catalyst m 2 /ml, and R = weight ratio of cobalt deposited on catalyst by kneading to total quantity of cobalt on catalyst. Catalyst is suitable for synthesis of hydrocarbons from synthesis gas.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 11
Claim 1
Independent Claim 134 words
A process for the preparation of a catalyst, characterized in that by kneading and/or impregnation a catalyst is prepared which comprises 3-60 pbw cobalt and 0.1-100 pbw of at least one other metal chosen from zirconium, titanium or chromium per 100 pbw silica, alumina or silica-alumina and which catalyst has such L and S as to satisfy the relation (3 + 4R) > L > (0,3 + 0,4R), wherein S the various symbols have the following meanings L = the total quantity of cobalt present on the catalyst, expressed as mg Co/ml catalyst, S = the surface area of the catalyst expressed as m 2 /ml catalyst, and R = the weight ratio of the quantity of cobalt deposited on the catalyst by kneading to the total quantity of cobalt present on the catalyst.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 134 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 32 words
A process as claimed in claim 1, characterized in that both during impregnation and during kneading the carrier material is contacted with a solution of the metal compound involved in a solvent.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 31 words
A process as claimed in claim 1 or 2, characterized in that in order to deposit the cobalt use is made of a solution of an inorganic cobalt compound in water.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 40 words
A process as claimed in any one of claims 1-3, characterized in that in order to deposit the other metal use is made of a solution of an organic metal compound in an organic solvent or mixture of organic solvents.
Claim 6
