Abstract

Abstract A catheter or fiberscope for the inspection of an intracardiac area or the like is proposed which has a flexible tube (1) and a balloon (8) mounted on its end. The flexible tube is divided into four passageways, i.e. two fluid passageways and an illumination light transmission line and an image transmission line. A flush of a physiological saline solution (12) is spouted from one fluid passageway outside of the balloon to form a visual field without interfering natural movement of the area (14) to be inspected. A catheter for dissolving a thrombus is also proposed which has a porous tube, instead of a balloon, at its end portion.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 16
Claim 1
Independent Claim 51 words
A catheter comprising a flexible tube having a fluid passageway for a first fluid, and means disposed at a front end portion of said flexible tube for allowing said first fluid fed through said fluid passageway to eject to directions other than the axial direction as well as the axial direction.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 51 words
A catheter comprising a flexible tube having a fluid passageway for a first fluid, and means disposed at a front end portion of said flexible tube for allowing said first fluid fed through said fluid passageway to eject to directions other than the axial direction as well as the axial direction.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 57 words
The catheter as claimed in claim 1, wherein said flexible tube has a further fluid passageway for a second fluid and said means comprise an inflatable balloon mounted on said front end portion of said flexible tube so as to cover the end of said further fluid passageway, said second fluid being used to inflate said balloon.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 47 words
The catheter as claimed in claim 2, wherein said flexible tube has an illumination light transmission line and an image transmission line so as to be parallel to said fluid passageways, said balloon covering the ends of said illumination light transmission line and said image transmission line.
