Device for taking impressions by optical means, particularly for the automatic shaping of dental prostheses

Abstract

Abstract Dental prostheses, such as crowns, inlays or dentures are produced automatically based upon an optical impression taken of the oral region wtih nontraumatic radiation. The reflected waves are transformed into numerical data which is used directly to operate a numerically controlled machine in the fabrication process. The process is pertinent to other medical applications as well.
