Surgical instrument with two jaws at shaft free end

Abstract

Abstract The instrument has a shaft (4) with a free end carrying two forceps forming jaw arms (25,26) swivelably actuated by a drive through the shaft between closed and open positions. The two jaws arms are in addition together swivelled about their bearing axis (24).Thus they are swivelable between a closed and an open position starting from different angular positions w.r.t. the shafts longitudinally direction. Pref. the drive has two separate elements (28,29), each swivelling one jaw arm about the bearing axis. The drive elements act in opposite directions for the jaw arm closing and opening, but in the same direction for changing their angular position.
