Self-expansible stent for body hollow organs - contains filaments of rectangular cross-section fixed at stent intersection points
Abstract
Abstract The stent (10) has a tubular, self-expansible net of filaments (11), which extends axially in collapsed state, but shortens in expanded state. The filament cross-section is rectangular, and they are fixed together at the stent net intersection points (12). The net filament are of metal wire, or of rubber-elastic plastics. Between the filaments in collapsed and expanded state there are fill spaces (16), which can be filled by a rubber elastic material. The filaments may have a hydrophilic coating, and the stent may be releasably fitted to an inserting instrument. USE/ADVANTAGE - For expanding and holding a hollow body organ open, with soft application to organ inner walls.
