Surgical resection instrument
Abstract
Abstract A surgical resection instrument, which can be inserted into a body cavity from the outside without any cutting operation and which can be used to remove tissues, possesses a basic body in which a rotating drive is housed, and an insertion member connected to the basic body. The insertion member comprises an outer pipe which is open at the tip and forms the outer covering of the insertion member, and an inner pipe which is arranged in the outer pipe so as to be rotatable by the drive unit. A tubular outer cutter formed by opening the tip has a recess which is formed from the front of the tip in the jacket of the outer cutter and whose edge forms a knife region. An internal cutter interacts with the knife region for cutting off live body tissue, and possesses a cutting knife region which is formed such that the angle with the knife region of the outer cutter is larger at the start of cutting than in the course of cutting.
