Device for maintaining and restoring delimiting bone walls of a body cavity following a surgical intervention
Abstract
Abstract The invention relates to a device (10) for restoring the delimiting bone walls (8) of body cavities, especially of the fractured floor of the orbit in the maxillary sinus (4, 5), with a balloon (11) in tetrahedron shape which can be introduced into the body cavity and filled with a fluid from the outside. This device is provided with a supply line (19) for the fluid, which line can be led out of the body cavity and is connected by one end to the tetrahedron-shaped balloon (11) and by the other end to a fluid reservoir (20). The invention is characterised in that the tetrahedron-shaped balloon (11) has a surface (12) which is designed so as to be essentially non-elastic under tensile load but is flexurally slack and in which the other surfaces (13, 14, 15) of the tetrahedron-shaped balloon (11) are elastic such that they bulge to a hemispherical shape without any significant restoring force on filling with a fluid. <IMAGE>
