Abstract
Abstract In order to permit improved stability and simplified insertion of locking bolts in a medullary nail, in particular a locking nail, for fixing bone fragments of a tubular bone which has a cross-section which permits partial contact between the medullary nail and the inner surface of the medullary space, it is proposed that the medullary nail have a U-shaped cross-section and two legs connected by a web, the legs being directed obliquely outwards approximately from half their height onwards.
