Abstract In an instrument (1) for surgical interventions in body cavities, which comprises a jacket (2), a core (3) located in the jacket (2) and an engagement member (5) located at the inner end of the instrument (1), held by at least one retaining member (9) and adjustable between a ready position and an active position by at least one drive member (6, 7) via a relative displacement between the jacket (2) and the core (3), the engagement member (5) is connected via the retaining member (9) to the core (3) in order to simplify the design, the engagement member (5) being in driving connection with the jacket (2) via the drive member (6, 7). <IMAGE>
