Surgical instrument
Abstract
Abstract There is described a surgical instrument for prostate resections. The instrument comprises an elongate wire electrode which is movably arranged in a sleeve. One end of the electrode is fastened on a sliding piece whereas the other end is provided with a wire loop which extends from the front end of the sleeve and is pulled through part of the prostate into the sleeve during resection, the part being located between the wire loop and the front end of the sleeve. The sliding piece is held by a taut spring element in a normal operation position and is manually displaced from this normal position, the spring element being stretched and the wire loop being pulled through the particular part of the prostate and the front end of the sleeve.
