Device for galvanic electrostimulation in urinary or rectal incontinence
Abstract
Abstract The invention relates to a device for galvanic electrostimulation in urinary or rectal incontinence having an electrode which can be inserted into the region of the sphincter muscle of the rectum and comprises a cylindrical, insulated electrode shaft, a plate-shaped annular electrode, a cylindrical stick electrode and an adjoining spherical or oval electrode head. The annular electrode, the entire cylindrical stick electrode and at least part of the electrode head are designed so as to be electrically conductive, whereas the remaining part of the electrode head is made of acrylic plastic or is also designed so as to be fully electrically conductive. Together with a plate electrode which can be arranged in the kidney region or in the region of the pubic bone the electrode pushed into the muscle region is connected to a pulse generator which emits bipolar pulses of predetermined current shape. This ensures that there is no risk of injury or burning due to ion migration inside or on the skin of the patient. <IMAGE>
