Device for checking the directionally accurate guidance of a surgical tool
Abstract
Abstract In some surgical interventions the required working direction of an instrument cannot be fixed on external structures but only by axial representation with an X-ray device, that is, the surgical tool must be aligned toward the beam path of the X-ray device. One example of this is, inter alia, the locking, remote from the body of an intramedullary pin. The invention relates to a device which displays on the screen of an X-ray amplification chain outside the target cover formed by the surgical tool whether the working direction of the tool coincides with the X-ray direction determining the required working direction. This object is achieved in that the device fastened on the surgical tool comprises X-ray contrast sight marks (1) which are radially aligned toward the axis of the working direction (2) of the surgical tool and are arranged in two levels (3) consecutively coinciding with each other in the working direction. The drawing is a diagrammatic representation of the arrangement. Any tilting of the actual working direction as compared to the required working direction of the tool is evident by the double imaging of the sight marks on the screen of the X-ray amplification chain. <IMAGE>
