Abstract
Abstract The secure method for attaching an electrode to the heart is by guiding it intravenously closely to the inside wall of the heart and then turning a thin cable which is inside the hollow electrode and terminates in a sharp screw, through a hole at the tip of the electrode, for securing it to the heart tissue. The contact head (5) consists of a hollow case (8) which is firmly connected to the conductor (3). Inside the contact head is a hard helical spring (9) which, when turned by means of a cable (25,26) moves forward through an opening (14) by an amount limited by a plate (13) into the heart tissue.
