Abstract
Abstract A boring tool has two diametrically opposite cutting edges (17,18). Each cutting edge is mounted in a block which can slide in a transverse channel in the end face of the tool and can be clamped by screws (9,10). Each support block has a groove on its inner face to receive a pin (28,29) projecting from a disc which has a limited degree of rotation inside the body of the tool. When one of the blocks is moved radially, it rotates the disc which, in turn, drives the other block in the opposite direction so that each cutting edge is moved exactly the same distance.
