Abstract
Abstract A person, alone in a hazardous situation carries a monitor which warns him if his pulse rate rises or falls beyond pre-set limits. If he fails to cancel the warning within 10 seconds, the monitor sends an emergency call to a central control over a wire-less link. A signal, derived from the pulse of the person is compared with a variable signal, generated by the monitor. The variable signal may be pre-set to suit the conditions and/or controlled by a movement detector. The warning may thus be initiated by missing or too slow pulse when stationary, or too fast pulse when moving.
