Abstract

Abstract A catheter hose, for example for the kidney diagnostic, is made of a mixture of polyethylene and a filler material such as lead oxide which is opaque to X-rays. The catheter hose carries on the outside a metal spiral, preferably made of chrome tape, applied in a thickness of 5 to 10 u, preferably in two stages, first chemically and then by galvanoplasty. The metal spiral can finally be covered by a pigmented layer of polyethylene or polyurethane to a thickness of 0.1 mm. Such a catheter hose is torsion-resistant yet can follow all bends of the track of insertion.
