Resectoscope for treatment of urethral and bladder lesions - contains endoscope coaxially sheathed by outer shaft sleeve, with annular space in between for anti-friction agent
Abstract
Abstract The resectoscope consists of an optical endoscope and a surgical instrument next to the latter. The two components are enclosed in a common endoscope tube. An additional outer tube (21) is arranged coaxially to the endoscope tube (22), an annular free space (25) being left between these tubes. This space is connected to a terminal (23) for a pressure line supplying an anti-friction agent. Pref. the outer tube has apertures (24) for the passage of this agent, which may be formed as mutually offset longitudinal holes. A strengthening (27) of the outer tube may be provided and may contain a bayonet union for securing of the outer tube on the head (9) of the resectoscope. The end (26) of the outer tube may be folded inside over the endoscope tube (22). The design enables a supply of an anti-friction agent without the need to interrupt the surgical treatment.
