Abstract
Abstract The medical instrument for treating veins on e.g. a patient's leg, has a tubular body (2) with a ring of crystals (1) mounted inside its open bottom end. These are connected to conductors so that they are vibrated supersonically. They are arranged so that their energy is concentrated at a focal print (F) underneath, which can be below the surface of the skin. The distance of the focal point can be varied by rotating an adjusting screw (3) at the end of the tube. This forms part of a screw mechanism to raise and lower the crystals which form a parabolic mirror.
