Abstract

Abstract An endoscope has a core (21) made of plastics foam, with a set of holes through it. These include two holes (25, 26) for conveying liquid, a larger hole (22) for a light conductor fibre bundle for viewing and another hole (23) of similar size for a second bundle for conveying light to the viewing point. Further holes are for instruments or operating devices. The two liquid conveying holes are positioned as close together as the strength of the plastics material allows. Further along the core are branch connections for the liquid supplier, extending sideways through the core.
