Abstract
Abstract The equipment continuously, and quantitatively determines haemodynamic parameters, such as speed of blood flow, blood pressure, heartbeat volume. It consists of a catheter probe for insertion in the blood vessel to be examined, having an ultrasonic transformer (7) at the tip to measure the speed of flow, followed by pressure absorber (6) measuring the intravasal/intercardial blood pressure, and a number of annular ultrasonic transformers (8) round the periphery. These have a resonance frequency clearly different from that of the transformer at the tip and measure the intravasal vessel dia.
