Microwave antenna with homogeneous dielectric lens - uses two concentric hemi-spheres with different radii as lens, with specified radius relation
Abstract
Abstract The antenna is preferably intended for reception of electromagnetic waves, but can be used for transmission as well. The lens consists of two hemi-spheres, concentrically abutting with their planar surfaces. The radii (R1, R2) of the hemi-sphere are different and in such mutual ratio as to form of focus on the curved surface of the smaller hemi-sphere, when waves impinge on the greater hemi-sphere curved surface. The focus is located diametrically opposite the wave point of impingement. In the reception mode the energy of the electromagnetic waves can be output coupled at this focus, while in the transmission mode this energy may be coupled at this focus.
