Abstract
Abstract To assist an infirm person to negotiate stairs etc., the knee joint is enclosed by an orthopaedic cage. This has an upper part (2) and a lower part (3) connected to each other by short swinging links (14). Each part is connected to the respective part of the leg by straps (16, 18). Each part is U shaped, with a strap mounted on the curved cross piece. One leg (6, 8) of each U is nearly straight, and the other leg (10, 12) is curved. An additional strap can be attached to the upper part, and an intermediate bandage can be mounted around the middle hinged region.
