BONE MARROW NAIL AND TARGET DEVICE FOR ITS ANCHORING IN THE MARULAR CANAL
Abstract
Abstract The medullary pin for the distraction in extension osteotomies or for compression osteosynthesis comprises two pipes (1, 2) which cannot be rotated relative to one another and can be telescoped by a gear. In the region of their ends they have holes (11), which are opposite each other transversely to the pipe axis, and grooves (12), which run transversely to the pipe axis, for exact anchorage in the bone wall. Adjustment notches (25) are fitted in the free edge (24) of the outer pipe (1). In order to be able to drill holes into the bone wall which exactly match the holes (11) and grooves (12) a targeting device is provided with adjustment cams (26) and can be pushed with a peg (30) into the outer pipe (1). By engagement of the adjustment cams (26) in the adjustment notches (25) and by an axial stop (31) the position of the targeting device relative to the medullary pin is exactly fixed. The peg (30) carries a ruler (34) over a lateral extension arm (33), the ruler extending in parallel with the peg axis over the length of the medullary pin and being provided with guide bores or channels (32) which are flush with the holes (11) and grooves (12) of the medullary pin. <IMAGE>
