Automatic operation of blood circulating pump - with hydraulic or pneumatic diaphragm pump and diaphragm position detector
Abstract
Abstract Appts. for automatic operation of an artificial blood circulating pump comprises a hydraulically or pneumatically driven diaphragm pump. A diaphragm position detector which emits a pulse in both end positions of the diaphragm operates a trigger for signalling the end position of the diaphragm. The trigger operates a bistable switch which operates an electromagnetic valve in the pipe leading from the hydraulic or pneumatic energy store to the pump. The diaphragm position detector pref. consists of a thermistor probe in the fluid stream path between the valve and pump. The pump always operates at the min. admissible frequency, with automatic adaptation to requirements, and does not require measurement of circulatory parameters.
