Pacemaker electrode with flexible electrode catheter - with flexible projecting base for abutment against wall of heart
Abstract
Abstract The pacemaker electrode comprises a flexible insulated electrode catheter (13) which contains an electrical feed wire and which has an electrode surface connected to the feed wire at its end which is to be inserted in the heart. From a location (17) along the catheter for insertion in the heart projects at least one flexible supporting base (15) for abutment against the wall of the heart. The base may be formed by the end of an additional catheter (15) which is slidable in the longitudinal direction along the main catheter. Pref. the two catheters are arranged coaxially one inside the other, and the main inner catheter can be expelled through a side opening (21) in the outer catheter.
