Automatic checking of gas analysers esp. for mines - using test gas to check zero-drift and proove functioning
Abstract
Abstract In a procedure for automatically checking, functioning and zero setting of ultra-red gas analysers (e.g. those applied for analysis of mine atmospheres for CO, CO2 and CH4) a test gas is fed into an analyser at regular intervals for fixed periods from a storage bottle via a fine filter in the gas line. Afterwards gas from the atmosphere to be tested is fed to the analyser also for a fixed period but via a filter to remove the component being tested for. This zero filter is connected upstream of the fine filter. The incidence of both steps is registered on a central indicator 24 hrs. per day and the results are recorded. Zero-drift is evaluated and recorded, and can thus be corrected. A positive indication that the instrument is functioning is obtd.
