Diathermic cutter for contracted sphincter muscle - cutting wire emerges from sheath at bend and re-enters higher up
Abstract
Abstract Cutter for contracted sphincter muscle comprises a diathermic cutter consisting of a thin stainless steel spring wire for connection to a hf energy source, which is movably guided with play in a thin flexible plastics sheath out of the wall of which the wire protrudes at a point (26) before the end (2a) of the sheath. From this point the wire continues on the outside of the sheath (4a) and re-enters at or just before the end (at 2c) forming a bend. The outer free end of the wire can be attached to a handle with a terminal for connection to the hf source, the handle being axially movable within a holder connected to the sheath, the whole combined with an endoscope.
