Microwave focussing device for tissue examination and treatment - has hollow rotational-ellipsoidal microwave reflector and dielectric transmission fluid
Abstract
Abstract A microwave focussing device partic. for use in body tissue examination and treatment has a microwave reflecting and collecting hollow mirror in its implant form. A microwave emission antenna directs microwaves onto the mirror surface from such an adjustable position that at least part of them are brought to a focus outside the rotational ellipsoidal shaped mirror. The area around the mirror axis is made non-reflective and a dielectric watery medium contained in a non-conducting sac is used to conduct the microwaves to the body tissue under examination. The dielectric has as near the same dielectric properties as the body tissue. Details of multi-unit installations are given.
