Mounting stud for false tooth implanted in bone - is in two parts separated by a resilient washer
Abstract
Abstract The mounting stud for a false tooth consists of two parts screwed together with a resilient washer between them, one part which is implanted in the jaw bone comprising a threaded bore with a threaded lining receiving a threaded pin attached to the other part which protrudes beyond the mucous membrane. The top part has a conical surface on which is mounted a false tooth with a complementary conical surface, and a flat abutment surface for a resilient plastics washer which is inserted between the part and tooth. An auxiliary member may be used instead of the top part, with a flat head over which the mucous membrane can grow. A secure mounting is obtained, avoiding the formation of gaps which could lead to the development of infection.
