Rim for spoked wheel, has arrangement of spokes comprising piston and cylinder parts to provide suspension and propulsion
Abstract
Abstract The spoke anchors (8) on the axle (1) extend away from the rim midpoint. The spokes (3, 4) extend at an angle to the diameter line and each one is oriented in a functional direction. Independent claims are also included for (a) compression force spokes (4) comprising piston and cylinder parts (13, 14) and having fasteners for adjustable securing the spoke ends to the rim axle and ring (2), (b) tensile force spokes (3) comprising piston and cylinder parts and a closure cap, and having fasteners for adjustably securing the spoke ends to the rim axle and ring, (c) transmission and stabiliser discs (5) joined to the rim ring in such a way that the disc transmits rotary force from the axle to the ring, the latter being stabilised against tipping, whilst the midpoints (0 point for the x and y coordinates) can be moved relative to each other, and (d) a wheel rim fan mechanism, comprising turbine blades with a coarse triangular outline, which are mounted in spaces in the the rim axle and ring so that they are arranged between the rim axle and ring with their tips point in the opposite direction to the direction of rotation, the maximum vane angle being chosen so that the downstream ends of the vanes do not interfere with the vehicle slipstream.
