Abstract

The high-frequency scalpel probe is an instrument used in medicine and technology for channeling or recanalizing biological or technical material. It works on the basis of high-frequency diathermy. A high-frequency generator feeds the high-frequency scalpel probe via a cable. It is characterized by a suitably designed probe shape. Different electrodes are inserted in the probe head, and channels make it possible to guide liquid or gaseous medium into the active space in order to support the function. Utilizing the benefits of high-frequency diathermy, it can be used in hard-to-reach places while avoiding major surgery. Another advantage is the ease of handling and its use in a variety of cases in which known methods fail or are not suitable.
