Device for implanting a rod-shaped implant
Abstract
Abstract A device for implanting a preferably absorbable, rod- shaped implant into a bone comprises a cylindrical guide part 1 which can be applied to the bone and has a through- bore 7, a sleeve-shaped slide piece 2 which can be pushed onto the outer surface 8 of the cylindrical guide part 1 and has an impaction pin 16 secured at one end thereof, and a drill 10. To form the drill hole, only the guide part 1 is used, its end provided with a toothing 6 being applied to the bone, and the drill 10 is inserted into the through-bore 7 and driven by means of a drill machine. In the implantation procedure, the drill is removed, the rod-shaped implant is fitted into the through-bore 7, and the sleeve-shaped slide piece 2 is then pushed onto the guide part 1, the impaction pin 16 penetrating into the through-bore 7. By striking the sleeve-shaped slide piece 2, the rod-shaped implant is driven by the impaction pin 16 into the drill hole formed in the bone. <IMAGE>
